2017 NFL Draft in Two Weeks

2017 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, a fact every single NFL executive is keenly aware of.  April 27-29 are the dates for the annual selection of college athletes, and the great shuffle of players which occurs every year immediately after the Draft. Who do the experts think will be picked in the opening round?

If history is any indication, one would be just as accurate predicting by tossing a dart at a list of college athletes, but that won’t prevent us here at Sports Relocation, Inc., from giving it a try.

The first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft order goes to the Cleveland Browns, and most experts consider Myles Garrett, DE from Texas A&M, to be the #1 pick.  We agree!  If you’re looking for a darkhorse longshot, look at Mitchell Trubisky, QB, from North Carolina.

The Snowball Effect takes place after each ensuing pick, and it becomes harder to guess who will go next.  San Francisco has that 2nd overall pick, and right now, if Garrett is chosen by Cleveland, we are leaning towards Solomon Thomas, DE for Stanford, to fall to the 49ers.

Third pick is to Chicago, and look for Marshon Lattimore, CB from Ohio State, to go next.  The Jags go fourth, and they badly need, and want, a running back, and that means Leonard Fournette, RB from LSU, to go to the Jags, followed by Mike Williams, WR from Clemson, going to the Tennessee.

We then have O.J. Howard, TE from Alabama, going to the Jets, followed by Malik Hooker, S from Ohio State, going to the Jets.

After that it’s anyone’s guess, but look for Christian McCaffrey, Dalvin Cook, Reuben Foster, Cam Robinson, Jamal Adams, and Derek Barnett to go shortly afterwards.  This draft is heavy in Defensive Ends and we expect to see at least seven DE’s, and possibly ten, go in the first round, if not more.

At the end of the day on the 29th, the smoke will have cleared, and teams will then have decisions to make regarding existing personnel.  There will be guaranteed contracts for high draft choices, meaning some veterans will be shopping around for a new home shortly after the draft ends.
