Yankees star Alex Rodriguez has made a deal to buy a five-bedroom, full-floor condo at the Rushmore, a new building with twin 41-story towers overlooking the Hudson River on New York's Upper West Side, brokers said.

The deal brings to an end perhaps the most celebrated property search in New York City since the Yankees moved to the Bronx from the Polo Grounds. Brokers confirmed that the sale price was between $5.5 million and $6 million for the unit on the 35th floor but said a contract had not yet been drafted.

Gary Barnett, the president Extell Development, said Rodriguez and his broker, Adam Modlin, had worked out the details of a term sheet. Modlin declined to discuss the terms; a person familiar with the situation confirmed that Rodriguez is buying the condo.

Extell also issued a statement confirming the deal: “We are thrilled to have Alex and his family buying at the Rushmore. He loved the building, the park and the water views, but we think that the clincher was the baseball field outside the front door.”

Real and imagined visits by Rodriguez to condos and townhouses on the market in New York — from the West Village to the Upper East Side — have been a staple of real estate gossip columns and blogs almost since the day that he was traded to the Yankees in 2004.™ assists players/coaches of the NBA, WNBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and Entertainers relocate nationwide by servicing your Real Estate & Relocation needs.
