- Your Hoops Fix: Basketball Celebs on the Move

Basketball celebs Nobody may be moving down the court in the NBA these days, but they certainly have been moving around the country.

Just a few weeks ago, Lakers coach Mike Brown closed escrow on a 9,500-square-foot house in Anaheim Hills, which as The Orange County Register astutely observed, he now has more time to enjoy thanks to the NBA lockout. And it's a pretty nice place to hang in, with a 350-gallon aquarium to look at as well as a training and massage room, a saltwater pool and spa, waterslide, grotto, swim-up table and a lighted tennis court.

And while we don't envy his commute to the Staples Center -- assuming he gets to make it again this season -- we do value his negotiating skills on the 15-room Mediterranean (pictured above). It was listed at one point at $4.5 million and he paid just $3 million.

Over in Chicago, the real estate news for hoopsters was less promising. Former Bulls center Tyson Chandler took a loss on his 20-room mansion in Northfield, selling for $2.1 million after paying $4 million for it in September 2006, reports the Chicago Tribune. Adding insult to injury, Chandler (who was part of the NBA-title winning Dallas Mavericks this year) bought the 11,000-square-foot Northfield home just weeks before he learned that he was being traded to the New Orleans Hornets after five seasons with the Bulls. Ouch.

If it's any consolation -- and we suspect it is not -- the home was bought by a fan who requested a signed jersey and basketball from Chandler before closing on the mansion. Yep, it was part of the deal.

And then lastly, Boston Celtics coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers, who previously rented at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, just bought a two-bedroom 1,801-square-foot penthouse on the 16th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel for $2.2 million, says We're not sure why the seven-season coach gravitates toward the hotel lifestyle so much, but it seems to suit(case) him.

Meanwhile, what are the rest of the players doing, if not negotiating to play for teams in Turkey? says a few are thinking about going back to school which is something we suspect their mothers told them to do in the first place.
