2017 NFL Draft

The 2017 NFL Draft is right around the corner, April 27-29, and we are here to give you a quick summary of what to expect. This will be the 82nd annual Draft for the National Football League, and this year it is being held in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the first time the draft has been held in the City of Brotherly Love since 1961.  Interestingly, this will be the first time an entire NFL Draft is held outside as this year’s festivities will be announced from a portable theater built upon the famous “Rocky” steps leading up to the museum.

There will be seven rounds of selections in all, 253 selections total. The first pick will go to the Cleveland Browns and the final pick goes to the Denver Broncos.  Cincinnati and Cleveland both have the most picks, eleven total, and Atlanta and buffalo have the fewest, with six each.

Who will be picked with the Top Ten selections in the 2017 NFL Draft?  Here are the players who are currently the consensus picks for that first wave:

Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

Jamal Adams, S, LSU

Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford

Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan

Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State

Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama

Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

Haason Redick, LB, Temple

Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

Will there be some surprises sprinkled into the top ten this year? There always are, and that’s what makes the countdown to the Draft so interesting.  Who will Cleveland go after with that coveted first pick, or will they trade it away at the last moment for several lower round picks?  Will a team like the L.A. Chargers, or Carolina, move up in the draft through a deal?  The NFL draft order for 2017 can change drastically in the next month.

You can bet NFL front office personnel are asking those same questions right this very moment.

One month to go!  One month before 253 young men have their lives changed forever.  The NFL season never ends.
