SportsRelocation.com and Million Dollar Living Support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Los Angeles – December 11, 2010 – As food banks around the country prepare to support more than 37 million hungry people in advance of the holiday season, the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is preparing for a massive endeavor of its own as it wraps up its 37th year of service.
The national economic recession hit California with particular intensity. According to the California Employment Development Department, the state was losing more than 60,000 jobs a month during the height of the recession, leaving California with an unemployment rate of more than 12%. This has left millions of Californian families in need of assistance, and though the recession may be officially over, economic growth remains slow.
With more than a million hungry people in need of food assistance in Los Angeles County today, donations of both non-perishable foods and produce are more important than ever. Without assistance from the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, many of these families would have no access to fresh food at all.
This is why Ikem Chukumerije, along with his partners at www.SportsRelocation.com and www.MillionDollarLiving.com, is donating his time to assist the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank with their holiday food drive.
